13 AUGUST, LONDON
HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh returned to Royal duties yesterday after recovering at Windsor Castle for two months following an operation in London. The Palace stated that the operation – which took place in June was “routine”. His first engagement was in Edinburgh where he has been Duke since King George VI bestowed the title upon him in 1947, on the morning of his marriage to the then Princess Elizabeth.
HRH commented that it was “a great pleasure to be back in circulation” as he gave out medals. The Duke, who was 92 in June will now spend the summer break in Balmoral with his wife, Queen Elizabeth II.
