Information about the Monarch:
King Jigme was born on 21st February 1980. He married Jetsun Pema on 13th October 2011. They do not currently have any children. The King’s brother is the current heir to the throne.
Interesting fact:
King Jigme gave up his absolute monarchy and switched the country to a democracy – with the first Parliamentary elections being held in 2008.
